Get Your System Running With the Right Solar Panel Ground Mount

A solar panel ground mount puts your array where it performs best. No roof penetrations or structural limits on tilt/orientation. Set the angle that matches your latitude and adjust seasonally.

Ground-mounted systems are easier to clean and expand. They’re the go-to choice for off-grid solar systems, farms, and any property that has the space and doesn’t want to tie up its roof with equipment.

Here at The Solar Store, you’ll gain access to the latest and greatest ground mounts from the top brands in the industry:

  • IntegraRack: BallastRack systems in fixed, adjustable, and seasonally adjustable configurations. Aircraft-grade aluminum options, starting at $89.99.
  • DPW Solar (Solar Rackworks): Standard, low-profile, and two-tier racks sized for 1-10 panels. Steel construction. $154 to $2,389.
  • EG4 BrightMount: Adjustable 4-panel ground mount at $379.99.

We’ve been helping customers size solar panel ground mount systems since 2001, and we’re ready to do the same for you. Call us at (541) 388-3637 or request a free quote for personalized guidance on which rack fits your panels, site, and goals.

FAQ

Usually not. Ground mounts need racking, concrete footings or ballast, and sometimes trenching for wiring runs. This stuff adds up. The appeal of a solar panel ground mount is not cost savings. It might just be the more practical option if your roof needs reinforcement or replacement before it can support panels. The real advantage of this method is better angles, easier maintenance, and room to expand.

Yes. The racking system and panel frames must be bonded to a grounding electrode per NEC code. This protects against lightning strikes and electrical faults. Every mount we carry comes equipped with grounding provisions in the frame design.

They take up precious yard space. Permitting can be more involved than rooftop in some jurisdictions. The foundation work can get pretty expensive, too. The alternative to these (and roof mounts) is a top of pole solar mount. It keeps panels off the roof in a way smaller footprint.

Match your latitude for year-round production. That's around 25-45 degrees here in the US. Some mounts are meant to be adjusted for the seasons, like the IntegraRack IR-45ASA. You can steepen the tilt in winter and flatten it in summer to follow the sun's arc and maximize energy harvest. Fixed mounts work fine if you don't want to adjust throughout the year.

Yes. Most of the mounts in this collection are DIY-friendly. The Integrarack solar ground mount system uses a ballast design so you don’t need to pour concrete. Set the frame, add weight, bolt your panels on. DPW Solar racks need post holes or a concrete pad (depends on the configuration). Either way, you can do it if you can follow a manual and handle a drill. Still, a lot of our customers choose to outsource the installation side of things.
