Description
The Victron Energy Smart BatteryProtect 12/24V-220A is a Bluetooth-enabled battery protection device that automatically disconnects non-essential DC loads before the battery reaches a damaging depth of discharge, while also serving as a programmable system on/off switch.
Designed for 12V and 24V systems with automatic voltage detection, the Smart BatteryProtect 220A safeguards lead-acid and lithium battery banks in marine, RV, off-grid, and mobile applications by monitoring battery voltage and executing delayed, configurable load disconnects and reconnects to extend battery life and prevent deep discharge damage.
As the highest-capacity model in the Smart BatteryProtect 12/24V range, the 220A is suited for large DC load circuits in high-current systems where the 65A and 100A models would be undersized.

The Smart BatteryProtect 220A's MOSFET-based switching architecture eliminates mechanical relays entirely, making it ignition proof with no sparks at the terminals during switching events — an important safety characteristic in marine and RV environments where fuel vapors may be present. Ultra-low current consumption (1.4mA BLE on, 0.9mA at low voltage shutdown) makes this device well-suited for lithium battery systems where parasitic draw after a low-voltage shutdown must be kept to an absolute minimum. Default disconnect and reconnect thresholds are 10.5V/12V for 12V systems and 21V/24V for 24V systems, with full custom threshold configuration available via VictronConnect.
The 220A model uses M8 terminal connections shared with the 100A model, and includes a connector with a pre-assembled DC negative cable included in the box. Its larger housing — the biggest in the 12/24V Smart BatteryProtect range — accommodates the thermal management demands of 220A continuous operation while maintaining the same operating temperature range as smaller models. Over-voltage load protection automatically disconnects the load if DC voltage exceeds 16.3V (12V systems) or 32.6V (24V systems), protecting sensitive connected loads from voltage spikes and alternator surges. The on/off input terminal allows the Smart BatteryProtect to function as a remote-controlled system switch, enabling clean shutdown and startup sequencing when integrated with a battery management system, ignition switch, or remote panel.
