Product Overview:
The Victron Energy Smart BatteryProtect 48V-100A is designed to prevent battery damage by disconnecting non-essential loads before the battery is fully discharged or before it lacks sufficient power to start an engine. This device is particularly beneficial for systems where battery preservation is critical.
With Bluetooth capability, users can program the Smart BatteryProtect using the VictronConnect app, allowing for customized engage/disengage levels. Alternatively, one of nine predefined levels can be set using the programming pin. For added security, Bluetooth can be disabled if desired.
The Smart BatteryProtect is a unidirectional device, handling current in only one directionâfrom the IN terminal to the OUT terminal. This design ensures that either the current flows to a load or from a charger, but not both simultaneously. In load applications, the battery connects to the IN terminal; in charging applications, the charger connects to the IN terminal.
Safety is paramount with the Smart BatteryProtect. Its MOSFET switching mechanism eliminates sparks, making it ignition-proof. The device also features overvoltage protection, disconnecting loads if the DC voltage exceeds 64V, thereby preventing damage to sensitive equipment.
The device's ultra-low power consumption is crucial for preserving battery life, especially in lithium-ion systems. When on, it consumes only 2 mA, and just 1.5 mA when off or in low-voltage shutdown.
Additional features include a delayed alarm output activated if the battery voltage drops below the preset disconnect level for more than 12 seconds, preventing false alarms during engine starts. The load disconnects 90 seconds after the alarm, unless the voltage recovers, and reconnects 30 seconds after the voltage exceeds the preset reconnect level.
