The Victron MultiPlus 12/2000/80-50 120V (UL) is a combined pure sine wave inverter, adaptive multi-stage charger, and automatic transfer switch in one enclosure. It’s designed for 12 VDC battery systems and delivers 120 VAC output power for RV, marine, off-grid, and mobile work applications. The inverter section provides a clean 120 VAC sine wave suitable for sensitive loads like electronics, tools, networking gear, and compressors. The charger section can deliver up to 80 A DC charge current to the battery bank, using adaptive charging logic that adjusts absorption and float behavior based on battery condition to reduce sulfation and extend service life. The internal high-speed AC transfer switch (50A) passes through shore or generator power when available and switches to inverter output on loss of AC, acting like a built-in UPS with a typical transfer time under 20 milliseconds so laptops and control systems stay online.
Victron’s PowerAssist and PowerControl features let the unit “stack” inverter power on top of a weak shore/generator source so you can start higher-demand loads without tripping breakers. When demand falls, spare AC capacity is automatically used to recharge the batteries. The unit supports parallel operation (to increase available output power), split-phase stacking for 120/240 applications, and full three-phase systems, which makes it usable not just in single-RV installs but also in modular off-grid and commercial/mobile service builds. Remote monitoring and configuration are available through VE.Bus and a GX device (such as Cerbo GX), giving you charge visibility, fault reporting, and remote control. The enclosure is wall-mountable, fan-cooled, and rated for continuous duty at elevated temperatures, with built-in protections for overload, short circuit, over-temperature, and reverse polarity. Typical applications include RV house systems, marine cabin power, mobile service trailers, and small off-grid cabins where you need one box to invert, charge, and manage shore/generator limitations.
