Description

The Sun Xtender PVX-7680T is a 2-volt valve-regulated lead-acid (VRLA) AGM deep-cycle solar battery cell designed for large-scale stationary battery banks in off-grid and grid-tied solar and wind energy storage systems, commercial and industrial installations, telecom central office backup, SCADA and RTU infrastructure, cathodic protection, island power systems, and navigational aid applications.

A division of Concorde Battery Corp. — an industry pioneer in VRLA-AGM battery design since 1987 — Sun Xtender engineered the PVX-7680T on the BCI Group 31 platform with pure lead calcium grids and plates thicker than industry standard.

As the highest-capacity Group 31 cell in the Sun Xtender 2V lineup, the PVX-7680T delivers 768Ah at the 24-hour rate — the most energy-dense Group 31 2V cell in the lineup — in the same widely specified Group 31 case that ensures direct compatibility with the large installed base of Group 31 racks, cabinets, and enclosures across the solar, telecom, SCADA, and industrial UPS markets.

Key Features:

  • Highest-Capacity Group 31 / 2V Cell — Delivers 768Ah at the 24-hour rate and 876Ah at the 100-hour rate — the highest capacity of any Group 31 2V cell in the Sun Xtender lineup — in the standard Group 31 case, providing a direct maximum-capacity upgrade for existing Group 31 battery bank installations without any modification to racks, cabinets, or enclosures
  • 4 M8 Terminals — Top-Mounted — Features 4 copper alloy M8 threaded insert terminals on the top face, enabling flexible series string interconnection in multi-cell stationary battery bank configurations; all terminals supplied with silicon bronze bolts, nuts, and washers
  • Pure Lead Calcium Grid Construction — Plates are thicker than industry standard for longer cycle life, increased reliability, and greater power output; low impedance AGM design allows excellent charge acceptance with no current limit required when using controlled voltage charging
  • PolyGuard® Microporous Polyethylene Separators — Proprietary dual-layer insulation protection shields positive plates against shorting, shock, and vibration; a Sun Xtender exclusive feature not offered by any other manufacturer in the industry
  • Non-Spillable VRLA-AGM Design — Valve-regulated, maintenance-free construction eliminates the requirement to monitor and replenish water levels; non-spillable design allows installation in any orientation — upright, on its end, or on its side — without risk of electrolyte leakage, enabling safe installation in enclosed battery cabinets without the forced ventilation systems required by conventional flooded 2V stationary cells
  • High-Impact Copolymer Polypropylene Enclosure — Battery cover and container uniquely molded with reinforced copolymer polypropylene featuring thick end walls to prevent bulging under pressure; built to withstand the demands of rugged commercial, industrial, and large-scale stationary energy storage environments
  • Hazmat Exempt Shipping — All Sun Xtender batteries ship Hazmat Exempt, simplifying logistics for distributors, dealers, and end users across all shipping channels

The PVX-7680T delivers 768Ah of nominal capacity at the 24-hour rate and scales up to 876Ah at the 100-hour rate, making it well suited for the slow, sustained discharge cycles typical of large stationary off-grid solar storage arrays and commercial backup power applications. At the 1-hour rate the battery delivers 474Ah per cell, confirming its ability to supply very high current for shorter duration loads in large inverter and UPS systems. The low impedance AGM construction ensures excellent charge acceptance across the full range of charge rates with no current limit required when using a properly regulated charge source — a critical advantage in large commercial solar and wind systems where charge current varies significantly throughout the day.

Sun Xtender's proprietary PolyGuard® separator system provides a level of plate protection not available from competing AGM battery manufacturers, directly contributing to the PVX-7680T's long cycle life and resistance to vibration and shock loads common in commercial and industrial stationary installations. As a 2-volt cell, the PVX-7680T is assembled in series strings to achieve any desired system voltage — 6 cells yield 12V, 12 cells yield 24V, and 24 cells yield 48V — with the full 768Ah capacity available at every voltage. The standard Group 31 footprint provides direct dimensional compatibility with existing Group 31 battery racks, cabinets, and enclosures, making the PVX-7680T a drop-in maximum-capacity upgrade for any Group 31 2V battery bank installation. All Sun Xtender batteries ship Hazmat Exempt, eliminating the regulatory complexity and additional freight costs associated with non-exempt lead-acid battery shipments.
