Description

The Sun Xtender PVX-5340T is a 2-volt, 534Ah valve-regulated lead-acid (VRLA) absorbed glass mat (AGM) deep-cycle battery manufactured by Concorde Battery Corporation. Built on the BCI Group 31 platform, the PVX-5340T steps up from the Group 24 PVX-5040T to deliver 6% more capacity per cell in a longer case — occupying the same footprint as the high-production 12V Group 31 batteries and the 6V PVX-2560T, making it a natural fit for battery cabinet designs already sized around the Group 31 form factor.

At 534Ah at the 24Hr rate and 612Ah at the 120Hr rate per cell, series strings of six cells yield a 12V / 534Ah bank, twelve cells a 24V / 534Ah bank, and twenty-four cells a 48V / 534Ah bank — each storing 1.21 kWh per cell and scaling linearly to any system voltage without capacity compromise. It is an ideal choice for stationary large-scale solar energy storage, commercial and industrial UPS backup, telecom central office infrastructure, SCADA and RTU systems, island power, and any high-capacity application where the Group 31 cell footprint aligns with the enclosure or rack design.

The PVX-5340T is engineered around Concorde's proprietary PolyGuard™ Microporous Polyethylene Separator — an exclusive dual-layer insulation system that protects positive plates against internal shorting, mechanical shock, and vibration in ways no competing manufacturer offers. Combined with thicker-than-industry-standard pure lead calcium alloy plates and a low-impedance AGM construction, the PVX-5340T delivers outstanding charge acceptance with no current limit required under controlled voltage charging, reliable deep-discharge cycle performance throughout its full service life, and a self-discharge rate of just 1% per month. Its recombinant gas design achieves near-total internal recombination of hydrogen and oxygen — 3 to 10 times better than gel cells and 5 to 50 times better than conventional flooded 2V stationary cells — eliminating the forced ventilation infrastructure required by flooded cell battery rooms and enabling installation in standard enclosed cabinets and battery enclosures.

The PVX-5340T features copper alloy M8 internally threaded insert (T-type) terminals supplied with silicon bronze bolts and washers for corrosion-free, high-conductivity inter-cell connections. An optional SAE automotive post kit is available as a factory-installed upgrade (suffix "A") or aftermarket conversion (kit P/N 6918).

The sealed, non-spillable construction is maintenance-free throughout the battery's service life and supports upright, on-end, or on-side mounting in any orientation. At 64 lb the Group 31 cell is a practical single-person lift, easing the logistics of building and servicing large multi-cell strings. Every unit ships fully charged and HAZMAT exempt — compliant with DOT, IATA, and IMDG regulations — ready to install on arrival.
