Description

The Sun Xtender PVX-2120L is a valve-regulated lead-acid (VRLA) AGM deep-cycle solar battery designed for off-grid and grid-tied solar and wind energy storage systems, large-scale telecom and SCADA infrastructure, cathodic protection, and commercial backup power applications.

A division of Concorde Battery Corp. — an industry pioneer in VRLA-AGM battery design since 1987 — Sun Xtender engineered the PVX-2120L on the large-format Group 4D platform with pure lead calcium grids and plates thicker than industry standard, delivering more than double the 24-hour capacity of the Group 31 models in a single sealed unit.

At 212Ah at the 24-hour rate, the PVX-2120L is the preferred choice for high-demand installations where maximum energy storage per unit and proven field reliability are critical requirements.

Key Features:

  • Large-Format Group 4D Capacity — Delivers 212Ah at the 24-hour rate and 250Ah at the 100-hour rate in a single sealed unit — more than double the capacity of the Group 31 models — for high-demand solar, telecom, SCADA, and commercial backup power systems
  • "L" Blade Solid Copper Terminals — Heavy-duty solid copper flat blade terminal design engineered specifically for large-format battery bank applications, providing robust low-resistance connections suited to the higher current demands of 4D-class installations; supplied with silicon bronze bolts, washers, and nuts; shared only with the PVX-2580L in the Sun Xtender lineup
  • PolyGuard® Microporous Polyethylene Separators — Proprietary dual-layer insulation protection shields positive plates against shorting, shock, and vibration; a Sun Xtender exclusive feature not offered by any other manufacturer in the industry
  • Pure Lead Calcium Grid Construction — Plates are thicker than industry standard for longer cycle life, increased reliability, and greater power output; low impedance AGM design allows excellent charge acceptance with no current limit required when using controlled voltage charging
  • Non-Spillable VRLA-AGM Design — Valve-regulated, maintenance-free construction eliminates the requirement to monitor and replenish water levels; non-spillable design allows installation in any orientation — upright, on its end, or on its side — without risk of electrolyte leakage
  • High-Impact Copolymer Polypropylene Enclosure — Battery cover and container uniquely molded with reinforced copolymer polypropylene featuring thick end walls to prevent bulging under pressure; built to withstand the demands of rugged off-grid, commercial, and industrial environments
  • Hazmat Exempt Shipping — All Sun Xtender batteries ship Hazmat Exempt, simplifying logistics for distributors, dealers, and end users across all shipping channels

The PVX-2120L delivers 212Ah of nominal capacity at the 24-hour rate and scales up to 250Ah at the 100-hour rate, making it well suited for the slow, sustained discharge cycles typical of large off-grid solar storage arrays and commercial backup power applications. At the 1-hour rate the battery delivers 136Ah, confirming its ability to supply very high current for shorter duration loads in large inverter and backup power systems. The low impedance AGM construction ensures excellent charge acceptance across the full range of charge rates with no current limit required when using a properly regulated charge source — a critical advantage in large solar systems where charge current varies significantly with available irradiance throughout the day.

Sun Xtender's proprietary PolyGuard® separator system provides a level of plate protection not available from competing AGM battery manufacturers, directly contributing to the PVX-2120L's long cycle life and resistance to the vibration and shock loads common in commercial and industrial installations. The "L" Blade solid copper terminal design used on the PVX-2120L is a deliberate departure from the M8 threaded insert terminals used across the rest of the Sun Xtender T-suffix lineup, engineered to meet the connection demands of large-format 4D battery bank wiring. Two integrated handles facilitate safe handling and positioning of the 127 lb unit during installation. All Sun Xtender batteries ship Hazmat Exempt, eliminating the regulatory complexity and additional freight costs associated with non-exempt lead-acid battery shipments.
