Description
The Sun Xtender PVX-1030T is a 6-volt valve-regulated lead-acid (VRLA) AGM deep-cycle solar battery designed for off-grid and grid-tied solar and wind energy storage systems, remote SCADA and telemetry installations, navigational aids, traffic and message boards, cathodic protection systems, and telecommunications infrastructure.
A division of Concorde Battery Corp. — an industry pioneer in VRLA-AGM battery design since 1987 — Sun Xtender engineered the PVX-1030T on the compact Group 24 platform with pure lead calcium grids and plates thicker than industry standard. As the sole 6-volt model in the Sun Xtender lineup, the PVX-1030T is purpose-built for series-wired battery bank configurations — two units in series form a 12V bank, four units form a 24V bank — delivering maximum design flexibility in space-constrained installations where the compact Group 24 footprint and manageable 42 lb weight are significant advantages.
Key Features:
- 6-Volt Deep-Cycle Platform — Group 24 Form Factor — Purpose-built 6V deep-cycle design ideal for series-wired 12V and 24V battery banks; the compact Group 24 footprint and 42 lb weight make the PVX-1030T the most handleable and installation-flexible battery in the Sun Xtender lineup
- Pure Lead Calcium Grid Construction — Plates are thicker than industry standard for longer cycle life, increased reliability, and greater power output; low impedance AGM design allows excellent charge acceptance with no current limit required when using controlled voltage charging
- PolyGuard® Microporous Polyethylene Separators — Proprietary dual-layer insulation protection shields positive plates against shorting, shock, and vibration; a Sun Xtender exclusive feature not offered by any other manufacturer in the industry
- Non-Spillable VRLA-AGM Design — Valve-regulated, maintenance-free construction eliminates the requirement to monitor and replenish water levels; non-spillable design allows installation in any orientation — upright, on its end, or on its side — without risk of electrolyte leakage
- M8 Copper Alloy Threaded Insert Terminals — Corrosion-resistant copper alloy M8 threaded insert terminals supplied complete with silicon bronze bolts, nuts, and washers required for installation; optional factory-installed SAE automotive post terminal available by adding "A" suffix to part number
- High-Impact Copolymer Polypropylene Enclosure — Battery cover and container uniquely molded with reinforced copolymer polypropylene featuring thick end walls to prevent bulging under pressure; built to withstand the demands of rugged off-grid and renewable energy environments
- Hazmat Exempt Shipping — All Sun Xtender batteries ship Hazmat Exempt, simplifying logistics for distributors, dealers, and end users across all shipping channels
The PVX-1030T delivers 103Ah of nominal capacity at the 24-hour rate and scales up to 118Ah at the 100-hour rate, making it well suited for the slow, sustained discharge cycles typical of off-grid solar storage applications. At the 1-hour rate the battery delivers 65Ah, confirming its ability to supply high current for shorter duration loads in inverter and backup power applications. The low impedance AGM construction ensures excellent charge acceptance across the full range of charge rates with no current limit required when using a properly regulated charge source — a significant advantage in solar systems where charge current varies with available irradiance throughout the day.
Sun Xtender's proprietary PolyGuard® separator system provides a level of plate protection not available from competing AGM battery manufacturers, directly contributing to the PVX-1030T's long cycle life and resistance to the vibration and shock loads common in remote telemetry, traffic management, navigational aid, and mobile off-grid installations. The 6V platform makes the PVX-1030T uniquely versatile within the Sun Xtender range — where the 12V models are designed for direct parallel bank expansion, the PVX-1030T enables series-wired configurations that deliver higher nominal bank voltages at the same capacity, a common design preference in larger off-grid solar systems. All Sun Xtender batteries ship Hazmat Exempt, eliminating the regulatory complexity and additional freight costs associated with non-exempt lead-acid battery shipments.
