Optional Controls:

  • CU202 Interface Box: Communicates with the pump and monitors operating conditions. Displays diagnostics, faults, dry-running status, operating status, power consumption, and water level switch input. The water level switch can turn off the pump when a tank is full.
  • IO50 Control Box: Features cable terminations and a manual on/off switch. Ideal for interfacing between a solar array and the pump, allowing you to safely turn off the high voltage array during maintenance. (We don't carry this but can order.)
  • IO101 Interface: Facilitates the use of AC backup for solar pumps. An automatic transfer switch disconnects the solar array when AC power from a generator, utility connection, or inverter is present. When AC power stops, it reconnects the solar array to continue pumping.
  • IO102 Interface Unit: Designed for systems powered exclusively by a wind turbine or a combination of wind and PV sources.

Important Information:

The SQFlex pumps are not compatible with Ground Fault Circuit Interrupters (GFCI) in the supply circuit and should not be used in locations where a GFCI is required.

Grundfos 11 SQF-2 SQFlex Solar Submersible Pump worked great

Grundfos 11 SQF-2 SQFlex Solar Submersible Pump worked great and love that I can run it either with AC (grid or generator) or DC(solar). I had purchased both the Grundfos CU202 Solar Well Pump Controller and the Grundfos SQFlex 101 SQFlex 115V Switchbox with the pump and if I were to do it again I would only purchase the SQFlex 101 SQFlex 115V Switchbox because the controller is not necessary for the pump to run and only gives pump error codes and gives you some options to program the pump but makes the wiring between the controller and the switchbox and the pump complicated. The instructions that come with the controller show how to wire it to the pump and solar and the instructions that come with the switch box only show it wired to the pump and solar but could find no instructions from Grundfos that show how to wire the controller, switch box and pump together and one must rely on the Solar Stores electrical diagram that shows how to wire all three together. The Solar Stores electrical diagram did not exactly work because we are using a standard pressure tank and not a water tank with a float and the electrical diagram shows the CU200 controller and now the controller is a CU202 so the wire terminals are now a different number. Also the well driller will set a pressure tank with a standard pressure switch between either the switch box power and the pump or the controller and the pump and when the set pressure is set it opens the power to the pump turning off the pump. If you put the pressure switch between the controller and the pressure switch gets to the top pressure and cuts off the power to the pump you will get an error code on the pump saying no communication to the pump because it communicates to the pump with the power wires so one needs to put the pressure switch in line with the power from the switch box to avoid the error codes. Or one could buy a special reverse pressure switch and run it from the controller which is how the electrical wiring diagram from the solar store would show. We chose to go with a standard pressure switch because that is what is commonly available and if we were to have a failure in it and call a pump guy that is what they would in and I would need to remember that we needed a special reverse pressure switch so I wanted to stay with common parts for ease of future trouble shooting and repair. Mix in European wire color codes and you got a wire mess to wire both the controller and switch box with a standard pressure switch so blue = neutral(white) and brown = hot(black or red). Also you will need a grounding electrode(ground rod) and grounding electrode conductor (typically #6 CU) to both the controller and to the pump per their individual instructions and also the solar store wiring diagram that wires the two together. The #6 CU is a big wire to run into the controller and switch box so easier to wire if they go straight down to earth from the controller and switch box but if you mount the controller and switch box over each other it is awkward to wire the #6 wire between the two or to go around one to go straight to ground. WITH ALL THAT SAID I ONLY WANTED THE OPTION TO GO AC (grid or generator) or DC(solar) SO I WOULD ONLY GET THE Grundfos SQFlex 101 SQFlex 115V Switchbox with the pump TO MAKE THE WIRING SIMPLER IF ONE WILL BE USING A PRESSURE TANK AND STANDARD PRESSURE SWITCH. I know without the controller you will not be able to get the pump's error codes but my well driller said they can trouble shoot pumps without the error codes like they do on all other pumps. The verify there is power to the pump and then do some resistance measurements on the hot and neutral wires to see if there is a short in the pump plus some other tricks I probably did not catch so in my case(I like simplicity) I would not want the controller but only get the switch box but that I have it and working I will leave it on until it breaks at which time I will just leave the switch box which allows me to switch between ac and dc power which is so cool. Anyway prefer simplicity over geeky options and others may have a different opinions and in different situations one may want the controller. I could not have gotten this going without the help of Jordan at the solar store who is very knowledgeable about the Grundfos pumps. It was hard for me to get any info from Grundfos so I was thankful for the solar stores help. Overall I am very happy with my Grundfos ac or dc powered pump. Right now I can run the pump with either a generator or ac grid but next year hope to install a small solar array to power the pump and use generator or grid power only as a backup.
