The Dome

Examples from 13" Kit The dome allows for the sunlight to enter into the light pipe and is exposed to the environment. Our dome is constructed of hi-impact UV stabilized acrylic that is twice as thick as our competitors. Unlike most of the competition our low profile appearance allows the skylight to blend into the surrounding roof structure. Most importantly, our dome is mounted in a stress absorbing seamless aluminum collar, which exerts the pressure caused, by expansion and contraction due to temperature effects evenly over the dome. All our competitors attach their dome directly to the flashing that stresses the dome at the contact points. Dissimilar materials react to temperature effects differently, which causes stress cracks to develop.

The Flashing The flashing is extremely important, as it is responsible for keeping your roof from leaking. It too is exposed to the harsh effects of the environment on a daily basis. Our flashing is constructed of heavy gauge aluminum with no seams, and its round shape minimizes damage to roof shingles and enables it to withstand the stresses of expansion and contraction due to the temperature variations. Our competitors use cheaper grade galvanized materials or plastic with tack welded or rolled seams. No other manufacturer offers round flashings, which lead to uneven stress being exerted on the structure and eventually, can lead to failure and cause leakage. Our unique forward sloping flashing design eliminates the use of light robbing elbows that the competition uses in almost all applications. However, since the pitched flashing is fixed at about a 4 and 12 pitch, elbows must be used if the roof pitch is 6 and 12 or steeper, or in applications where straight pipe runs are not possible. Our Skylight Kits come with either Flat Flashing for low pitch or flat roofs, or Pitched Flashing for standard pitched roofs. A black powder-coat option for the Pitched Flashing is available for the 10", 13" and 18" kits. Note: The 21" model only comes with Flat Flashing, Pitched Flashing is not available for this model.

Light Pipe Manufactured by the leading firm in the industry, our light pipes' optical specifications are the best performing in the industry. Most of the competition uses cheaper grade light pipe, thinner gauge or less reflective. Our light pipe is assembled on site with three securing methods ensuring a tight, dust free seal.

Trim Ring and Diffuser The trim ring and diffuser assembly is the only piece in the entire kit that the homeowner sees on a daily basis, and it's the only item that the homeowner will ever touch. Our trim ring is constructed of seamless aluminum and is powder coated white in color. All of our competition offers plastic, and many have unsightly plastic tabs that hold the ring in place. Our diffuser easily snaps into place for ease of cleaning, yet it provides a tight seal to ensure no heat loss up the light pipe. It's constructed of hi-impact acrylic, which makes it virtually unbreakable. Our diffuser is designed with a small arc that provides even light distribution without spotlight effects. Our competition offers primarily flat diffusers that are brittle and is not able to spread the light out as far.

Options

The bathroom is unquestionably one of the most popular rooms for added light. Yet large amounts of warm moisture laden air can be an issue. Natural Light comes to the rescue again with an OPTIONAL integrated skylight exhaust system (sold separately, for the 10" Tubular Light ONLY!). Our Super Vent Fan (SVF) is capable of exhausting 125 CFM, enough to vent a bathroom and shower stall. Natural Light’s ingenious design disguises the intake vent in a sleek trim ring that holds the skylight diffuser. No more ugly vent grates! The vent is then connected to a motor that is remote located in your attic space, making it extremely quiet. Flexible exhaust tubing allows for many venting options including a dual exhaust in your shower stall. The SVF can also accommodate the light kit for evening lighting. Warranty: 25 years on the Skylight. 5 years on fan (when applicable)

There may be instances where a room is either too small or it is otherwise undesirable to have a second light fixture in the ceiling. Natural Light has an ingenious solution! Natural Light can install a tubular skylight in the previous fixture’s ceiling rough out. Then an incandescent or compact fluorescent fixture is mounted inside the light tube and wired to the wall switch. Your Natural Light Tubular Skylight is now ready to serve for evening illumination!

Fully adjustable 45° elbow constructed out of the same material as our Light Pipe. Since the pitched flashing is fixed at about a 4 and 12 pitch, elbows must be used if the roof pitch is 6 and 12 or steeper, or in applications where straight pipe runs are not possible. Note: Each time light is bent there is a loss of light, therefore, minimal use of elbows is recommended

• Choose either HIGH IMPACT ACRYLIC SOFT WHITE DIFFUSER or PRISMATIC DIFFUSER (Choose the white diffuser for a softer light, or the prismatic diffuser for a brighter, more spread out light.)
• Choose either PITCHED or FLAT ROOF FLASHING.
• Kits come with heavy gauge aluminum Flat Flashing for low pitch or flat roofs, or Pitched Flashing for standard pitched roofs. A black powder-coat option for the Pitched Flashing is available for the 10", 13" and 18" kits.
