Energy efficent appliances are essential to living "off grid" or just reducing your total energy usage. In particular refrigerators and freezers can account for almost 15% of your electrical usage!

We get asked frequently about the energy comparison between the Steca and the Sundanzer units. Here is an energy comparison we recently did between the Steca PF166 and the Sundanzer DCF165. The figures are based on ambient temp of 30 degrees Celsius with the internal temperature of the units at -12 degrees C. The Sundanzer uses more at 591 Whs per day compared to the Steca's 482 Whs. Additionally, the Steca has slightly bigger capacity at 5.9 CuFt compared to 5.8 CuFt on the DCF165. The Steca also gives you the option of selecting a refrigerator or freezer while the Sundanzer must be purchased as either a refrigerator or a freezer. Both units can be powered from 12 or 24 VDC. The Sundanzer does have an additional optional extra for running via AC power and is over $200 less expensive. The Sundanzer units are American made while the Steca units are imported from Europe.
